DIY Proposal 01 — Lighting + CO₂ (LOCKED)

Status: subsystem 1 locked, 2026-04-11. Reflects user decisions: bare boards + Meanwell drivers as kits, on-board UV, SuperPro GEN-10 for CO₂, VAT-reclaimable business, solar power planned (energy efficiency premium not needed → regular LM301H not EVO).

Replaces: vendor_teardown/03_lighting.md — Green Jungle bills € 15 596 for 24× €399 no-brand "800 W" top + 36× €90 intercanopy + 14× €100 UVC + 24× €43 veg + 12× €29 clone (no CO₂ hardware quoted).

Strategy

Named-chip Samsung LM301H supply chain, sourced as bare board + Meanwell driver kits direct from Kingbrite, with CO₂ enrichment hardware that the vendor never billed. VAT is reclaimable, so we pay raw hardware cost.

Chip choice — Samsung LM301H (regular, NOT EVO)

SpecLM301BLM301H (locked)LM301H EVO
Peak efficacy (3000 K, 65 mA)~3.10 µmol/J~3.10 µmol/J~3.35–3.50 µmol/J

Bulk fixture price (Kingbrite 800W)n/a~€333~€378

Why not EVO: the EVO's ~8–12 % PPF/W advantage repays itself only via lower electricity bills. User has a solar installation planned — energy is effectively free in the long run. The €1 080 EVO premium across 24 fixtures buys nothing functional under solar. Regular LM301H keeps the same Samsung quality (same EMC humidity-resistant package, same Osram 660 nm pairing, same Meanwell HLG kit options, same supplier, same warranty), just not the bleeding-edge phosphor.

Why not LM281B+ ("cheap"): that would be the budget Samsung mid-power chip and the user said "don't go cheap, just reason about it". LM281B+ is what the vendor's no-name €399 boards probably are. Regular LM301H is the right tier — premium without being the bleeding edge.

At drive currents commercial boards run (350 mA+), all LM301 variants drop to ~2.5–2.7 µmol/J at the diode — driving soft is the whole game. Kingbrite kits ship with Meanwell HLG drivers sized to under-drive for max efficacy.

Spectrum recipe

No separate UVC sterilization lamps. UV is on-board the flowering boards. The vendor's €1 400 line for 14× UVC lamps is dropped entirely — we save €1 400 vs vendor on this line and €1 180 vs my original DIY proposal.

Sourcing — Kingbrite Official Store, all in one freight

User decision: bare boards + Meanwell drivers as kits, single supplier for everything (single VAT invoice, single freight, single warranty conversation).

Store: Kingbrite Official Store (verified live, 100 % positive reviews, 3.1 K followers, user logged-in).

Bulk discount via store chat: 8–15 % is typical at 24+ unit orders per community reports (THCFarmer, ILGM forums). Messaging the store with the full 96-fixture quote should land 12–15 %.

DDP "No Tax to EU" option at 30+ unit threshold means the order arrives in Poland with VAT pre-paid by the seller — smoother than reclaiming. Worth ~€30–50 / fixture in shipping vs standard but eliminates customs friction and adds ~7–12 day delivery vs the 15–25 day Cainiao standard.

Sourcing pipeline

  1. Kingbrite store chat → bulk quote → confirm DDP available → order
  2. Ships from Shenzhen via Cainiao DDP express → Poland in 7–12 days
  3. Self-transport from Poland to Malta (intra-EU = no customs)
  4. Polish electrician pre-wires drivers, frame, mounting
  5. Maltese F-gas / electrical sign-off on install

CO₂ enrichment — SuperPro GEN-10 (locked)

The Green Jungle offer billed €499 Growlink "Climalink with CO₂" controllers in 5 rooms (€2 495 of controllers) but zero CO₂ hardware. We add the hardware.

Locked SKU: SuperPro GEN-10 from Top-Growshop.pl — 2 199 zł (~€517) per unit, ships from Legionowo PL, 1–2 day delivery, Polish VAT invoice.

Why this over the K&M warehouse heater the user originally proposed:

Honest caveat (user has empirical confirmation)

Hotbox / SuperPro / Kruger&Matz are all unvented. None publish a NOx ppm number — that's marketing-tier, not lab data. UMass Extension and MSU document crop loss at 1 ppm ethylene from unvented combustion. Forum consensus (THCFarmer, ICMag): commercial growers above ~20 kW CO₂ demand switch to bottled liquid CO₂.

Below that scale (yours: ~1.3 kW per room), unvented burners have a 20-year track record IF the burner is clean, the duty cycle is low, and the room has adequate O₂ supply. User's empirical "no leaf damage with prior LPG heater builds" is consistent with the forum view.

The €317 premium over a Kruger&Matz consumer warehouse heater does not buy magic low-NOx — it buys correct control topology (solenoid + power-triggered, no rogue internal thermostat) and pilotless ignition, both of which matter for HA-driven commercial automation.

Fallback (only if SuperPro out of stock)

Hotbox 2.5 kW propane at EUGardencenter (DE) — €391, ships from Germany 5 days. Same control topology, smaller modular range, stronger brand reputation.
